What provoked the nationwide protests in 2020? Why were they criticized, and how did activists who support the protests respond to these criticisms?

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

The death of George Floyd is what provoked the nationwide protests in 2020. These protests were criticized because they were violent and destructive. The criticisms were that just because this one man died, this did not mean all law enforcement was out to get us. One bad person does not determine an entire branch of law enforcement. The main problem with these protests was the violence and destruction of law enforcement buildings and attacks on law enforcement. Some protesters responded to the criticism by working to stop rioting and peacefully protest, but others responded with more violence.

What basic view of culture underlies the structural-functional approach? The social conflict approach? This question refers to the basic view of culture underlying these two paradigms.

Answers

Structural-functionalism views society as a complex system whose parts work together to promote teamwork and stability. This approach observes society from a macro-level perspective, looking at it’s social structure and it’s functions. Culture broken down into subgroups such as: religion, politics, language, traditions, etc. is what makes up all of society and these parts need to be understood as an integrated function of society.

In the social conflict approach, it focuses on how social groups use power to influence, control, or exploit other social groups that possess less power than them. The class conflict and inequality influences the evolution of society. This culture with those higher in hierarchy vs those at the bottom and the rich vs poor needs to be studied and understood in order to break down and explain how this social evolution will take place.

-----------------------

What led to Rome's fall? When the Emperor Diocletian divided the empire into two halves, the Western Empire seated in the city of Milan, and the Eastern Empire in Byzantium, today known as Constantinople. The Emperor believed that this would make both sides easily governable in the future, but over courses of time, the two sides slowly drifted apart, fighting over military and aid. The East and West failed to work together to defend the civilization from common threats. Soon enough, the Greek-speaking Eastern Empire grew in wealth while the Latin-speaking West descended into economic crisis. The strength of the Eastern Empire served to divert Barbarian invasions to the West, targeting a more easily accessed goal. Although the city of Constantinople was left well-guarded, the city of Rome and Italy, which was quite important to many in the East, was left unattended. The Western side would fall in the 4th century, but the Eastern side would still be standing until being overthrown by the Ottoman Empire.

Rome's size made it difficult to govern, and the inconsistent leadership seemed to make the problems bigger. Being the Roman Emperor was dangerous, but during the thunderous 2nd to 3rd centuries, it was more "hazardous" than ever. Wars threw the civilization into chaos, and over the course of 75 years, more than 25 men took the throne. Praetorian Guards, the Emperor's bodyguards, being close to the leader, assassinated and installed new leaders at will. This was usually to the person with the most wealth, or gave the Praetorian Guards the most power.

Due to the excess of emperors, and the Senate's own widespread corruption, Rome plummeted. But it was also Rome's religious values. With the spread of Christianity, Rome quickly lost faith in its traditional values, and some believe that the rise of a new belief led to the Emperor's downfall. The Edict of Milan legalized Christianity in 313, and it became the "state religion" shortly after. Christianity also went against the polytheistic traditions of Rome, instead of having multiple gods and goddesses, turning to a monotheistic way of life. This also viewed the Emperor as having a higher status, shifted focus away from the glory of the state and instead on a single deity. Popes and other religious leaders took a role in political affairs, further complicating Rome's governance. This had eroded the glorious civilization's values.

two gentleman of verona critical view

Answers

Two Gentlemen Of Verona is the inspirational story of two brothers aged 12 and 13 - the younger one Jacopo’s nature is childish and lively while the elder one, Nicola’s nature is serious and mature. The author met them in the town of Verona. A.J.Cronin used the title “The Two Gentlemen of Verona” in an ironic manner, as at a very young age they faced the hardships of life, their mother died early in their life, their father was a well-known singer but became a victim of the early war.

Their village suffered due to German occupation. They got homeless as their home got destroyed, and suffered starvation and the cold winter. The family struggled for life, they lived in the shelter made of broken building walls and bricks. After the war, they got back to their sister, and found her suffering from tuberculosis of spine, which was another shock to these poor kids. As they were the only family of their sister, they had to work and arrange money for her medical treatment.

Despite facing so many problems in their early life, the boys did not lose hope, the brothers’ positive approach and determination to get their sister cured had helped the staff treat her well. Despite having a scarcity of jobs in town, they managed to give their sister the best they could. On the contrary they lived a very poor life, their clothing and eating habits portrayed it. To earn their living they shined shoes, sold fruit, hawked newspapers, and even worked as tourist guides.

Going through so much in life, they never tried to take anyone’s sympathy, instead they worked hard. These two young boys have every quality of being called gentlemen, their positivity and selflessness inspired the narrator. The narrator felt that such a humble youth gives our society hope for a better tomorrow. In such times of war, weapons and hatred, still, there is hope for humanity.

Explanation:

Davina always needs to stick to the rules no matter what. She also does not like to share and is very careful about how she spends her time and money. A psychoanalytic theorist might suggest that Davina is fixated at the _____ stage of development

Answers

Answer:

A psychoanalytic theorist might suggest that Davina is fixated at the a.nal stage of development.

Explanation:

According to Sigmund Freud, the a.nal stage is the second stage in a child's development. It starts at the age of 18 months and lasts until the age of 3 years. This is when the child achieves a sense of accomplishment and independence for learning how to control their bladder and bowel movements. In other words, they learn how to use the toilet.

However, it is possible for an adult to stay fixated (or stuck) in this stage, according to Freud's theory. If a child does not get over this stage and does not move to the next one successfully, that child will grow to be an adult with issues such as extreme need to organize, to follow rules, to pay attention to details, etc. In other words, he or she will plan out every single detail of their lives and will not leave room for spontaneity or impulsiveness. This seems to be the case with Davina.

It is important to add that the complete opposite can also happen. A person fixated on the a.nal stage can also become extremely disorganized. It will all depend on how potty training was carried out by the parents.

NOTE: I had to type "a.nal" like this because otherwise Brainly will not let me post the answer. This can be considered a bad word, so it is understandable. Just remove the dot in the word, and it will be fine.
