Little House on the Prairie is a children's book by Laura Ingalls Wilder that was published in 1935. It is part of a series of books known as the Little House series.
The Little House series is based on memories of Laura Ingalls Wilder's childhood in the Midwest region of the United States during the late 19th century. The best-known of the books is Little House on the Prairie. The books are told in the third person, with Laura Ingalls acting as the central character. They are generally classified as historical fiction rather than as autobiography.
Wilder's daughter, Rose Wilder Lane, helped her with the editing of the books. The extent of Lane's involvement and influence on the books has been the subject of some debate. But almost all Wilder's scholars and biographers believe that the writing of the books was a joint project between mother and daughter— Laura writing the books, Rose editing them.
The books have remained in print since their first printing by Harper & Brothers. They are considered classics of American children's literature and remain widely read. Several of them were named Newberry Honor books. The edition of the series currently in print contains illustrations by Garth Williams. The books were also adapted into a long running, popular television series, Little House on the Prairie.

I would sit in front of the TV screen rewatching this part over and over again amazed at how such a little creature could do such a big thing.
